*I have tried and tested painting the living hinge on the outside of the book box.
I have sponged on 2 layers of chalk paint. The hinge moves freely after each coat.
I have then used 2 coats of polyvine varnish.Again the hinge works as it should.
I would not recommend thick layers of paint inside or outside on the hinge because it does need to move so exercise caution. On test it covered perfectly and worked as it should. See gallery picture
You can use gilding polish if you,d rather
